 January 16 to January 19, 2025 / 8 pm (Thu - Sat) + 4 pm (Sat) + 1 pm (Sun) Stephan Herwig BREATHER (world premiere) schwere reiter In Stephan Herwig's first new production since 2022, two dancers create a constantly changing body sculpture in perpetual motion. Starting from the breath, the dancers explore and investigate closeness, tenderness and sensuality under a floating stage object, created by Mirella Oestreicher, that hangs close above them. In continuous connection, their two bodies merge and interweave with each other, becoming one. Between associations of mythical creatures, AI-generated body impossibilities or planets orbiting around themselves, they "morph" together in a ceaseless flow. "For me, BREATHER is a kind of creation story that does not follow a classic theatrical scene structure. The dancers explore the playing space in real time, constantly rebalancing themselves and exploring the boundaries of their interaction in the here and now, as if they had to relearn their approach each time. I want to present works that deal with the immediate situation and invite viewers to witness an organic process that happens in the moment, not a repetition of perfectly rehearsed routines."
