Open Call: HIER = JETZT 2026
From March 30, 2026, to April 12, 2026, six to eight selected participants will be provided with free studios at Tanztendenz, schwere reiter, and as part of a residency at Tanzprojekt München. Finally, the works will be presented on the stage of schwere reiter on two evenings with free admission, under the supervision of technical staff.

Following each performance evening, there will be audience discussions between the participating artists and interested viewers. We are particularly pleased that, thanks to a private donation, an audience award can once again be presented, as has been the case since 2022. This will be awarded after the final performance of HIER=JETZT 2026 and will be supplemented by a working scholarship from the Norbert Janssen Foundation and a residency at Tanztendenz.
About HIER = JETZT
HIER = JETZT was initiated as a platform for Munich’s independent dance scene. Since 2024, it has been presented as a format by Tanztendenz München e.V. and continues to be led by us, the initiators Johanna Richter and Birgitta Trommler
Founded in 2016, the “Initiative by Artists for Artists” aims to bring together as many dance professionals as possible in an open setting in order to promote work processes and give professional choreographers the opportunity to work on their own productions.
For two weeks, we open all studios and enable two public performances so that artists can try out and discuss their work beyond budget and production constraints. HIER=JETZT sees itself as a laboratory in which choreographers can test their artistic approaches in excerpts or as works in progress and present them for discussion under professional conditions (lighting, sound, stage) on the stage of the schwerer reiter in an open-space format.
The platform also provides a digital format and makes the participants’ work accessible to a broad international audience with professional video documentaries on the HIER=JETZT pages on Vimeo, Facebook and Instagram. The videos and annual documentaries can be viewed throughout the year on the platform’s pages. As a so-called ‘starter pack’, the videos and professional photos are also made available to participants for their own use, for their own virtual presence or for other applications.
HARD FACTS
To apply for the platform, you must submit a concept that should not exceed one A4 page and a short professional CV.
Contributions for the public presentation should not exceed 20 minutes.
