Alexandra Rauh + Stephanie Felber: How to build a monster? (side.kicks)
As part of side.kicks
“How to Build a Monster?” sets out in search of the monstrous—not as a finished figure, but as a physical and social phenomenon in a state of constant transformation. Memories, myths, images, and social notions intersect with the body, movement, materials, and technology.
Familiar forms begin to waver: humans and animals, bodies and machines, the foreign and the familiar start to blend together. Through movement, sound, and images, new forms and states emerge again and again—sometimes visible, sometimes merely as a hint or an atmosphere. In this process, the monster becomes a means of pushing boundaries, questioning norms, and perceiving the body in a different way.

Local & International: Four Productions & A Dance Symposium
The Tanztendenz format side.kicks presents four choreographies at schwere reiter that explore hybrid, dissolving, and shifting images of the body. In these four highly diverse works by Alexandra Rauh + Stephanie Felber, Quindell Orton, Isabella Oberländer and Colette Sadler, the boundaries between human and non-human bodies blur. Human & animal, human & plant, human & machine, and human & digitality are the focus of these works. In conjunction with the four performances, the dance symposium “Animals, Animalities, and Non-Human Actors in Contemporary Dance” will take place as part of side.kicks+ 2026, a collaboration between Access to Dance and Tanztendenz München e.V.
