In astronomy, the term KONSTELLATIONEN (‘constellation’) describes the relative positions of celestial bodies as seen from Earth. This concept can be applied to works of art in general, or more specifically to ballets, and so the ballet evening KONSTELLATIONEN sets out on a kind of expedition. The exploration focuses on how five or six shorter ballets or excerpts from ballets relate to one another when deliberately juxtaposed. For KONSTELLATIONEN, Laurent Hilaire has selected pieces whose choreographers have a special connection to the State Ballet’s repertoire or whose works have already been performed in Munich.
The ballet evening is complemented by a new work by Simon Adamson-De Luca, who was a member of the Bavarian Junior Ballet Munich during the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons and introduced himself to Munich audiences as a choreographer with Return to Innocence at the Heinz Bosl Foundation’s Autumn Matinee in 2024. He was awarded the Heinz Bosl Prize for this work at the 2025 Autumn Matinee. In this respect, the Munich audience can look forward to a reunion with old and fleeting acquaintances – and even to an encounter with something entirely new. The aim is to use the selected works and excerpts to weave a new network of connections through sight and sound.
