Gauthier Dance Juniors: Dream Team
“In four emotionally charged and technically demanding pieces, the young dancers of Eric Gauthier’s ensemble demonstrate that it is precisely when working together as a group that they surpass themselves.” (SWR)
The award-winning Gauthier Dance Company is one of Germany’s most successful dance companies. With four exciting pieces, audience favourite Eric Gauthier is sending highly talented young dancers to DanceFirst:
Inspired by the resistance icon Maria del Mar, three couples dressed in earth tones in Nacho Duato’s Jardi Tancat evoke the harsh life of the peasantry, in their tireless struggle against the barrenness of the Catalan soil.
Barak Marshall’s The Blue Brides is a tongue-in-cheek lesson in doomed love and the dangers of naivety, blind obedience and jealousy.
Lickety-Split – meaning ‘immediately’ or ‘in the blink of an eye’ – by Alejandro Cerrudo depicts the encounter between three couples: sensual, enigmatic and with a touch of eccentricity.
The spectacular finale is Virginie Brunelle’s High Moon – an uncompromisingly dynamic choreography with a club vibe and original music by Laurier Rajotte, inspired by Maurice Ravel’s Boléro.
