Kolja Huneck und Luuk Brantjes: Symbiosis
As part of the rodeo Festival
In Symbiosis, the body, material and gravity come together in a delicate balance. The performance combines contemporary circus, Magie Nouvelle and object theatre to create a sensory exploration of the relationship between humans and the environment. A sombre stage world unfolds within a dome tent specially designed for the piece. The artists Kolja Huneck and Luuk Brantjes – each on their own – set out on their own paths within a surreal universe, exploring how humans relate to the transient world around them.
Using objects made from oil, Huneck creates a world in which vinyl records not only play music but also become part of complex juggling patterns, whilst Brantjes propels himself through the space with the aid of a specially constructed apparatus. The result is a poetic circus universe exploring the beauty and fragility of a divided world.
