They are more afraid of you than you of them.

We live alongside animals: we fear them, care for them, eat them, hunt them and revere them. Yet the ground on which we stand is thin. We need animals and yet we abuse them – not least to deny other people their humanity: ‘You monkey, you snake, you dog.’Making of an Animal explores and blurs these uncomfortable boundaries of animalisation, questions the consequences of equating humans with animals, and at the same time reflects on our deeper human-animal relationships.

In Quindell Orton’s performance, three performers navigate this tension and lay it bare by using movement, video and live sound dubbing to allow the audience to experience their bodies as floating, liminal forms between human and animal. Following the huge success of*Making of a Man*, Quindell Orton’s latest piece will have its world premiere at the rodeo Festival.
