Wir waren nicht immer langsam
‘I don't want to make art, I want to do something that will help me get ahead, to keep on living.’ – Toshio Kusaba
A director and two musicians, aka ‘Eos and the two old bags’ – that's Eos Schopohl, Andreas Koll and Toshio Kusaba. Together, they have more than 200 years of art experience. And that means they don't care what others think about art, because they take the liberty of simply making art.
Personal memories, songs and dramatic moments come together to create an evening about growing older. With humour and self-irony, Eos and the two old farts look back on life and reveal what often remains hidden: experience, vulnerability and the joy of sharing. An evening that is part concert, part narrative theatre and part performative collage – sometimes grotesque, sometimes serious, sometimes light-hearted, but always lively.
‘Wir waren nicht immer langsam’ (We weren't always slow) delves into ageing in our modern times – not as a nostalgic look back, but as a lively, present experience. It tells of changes, memories, losses and the unwavering desire to continue to communicate. Humour and music become powerful forms of expression against sweeping generalisations, simplifications and silencing.
‘Wir waren nicht immer langsam’ (We weren't always slow) brings together a colourful mix of voices, attitudes and temperaments in a polyphonic performance about time, presence and the joy of life.
